Clinic Review: I Asked Manchester Fertility About Egg Freezing So You Don’t Have To

Let’s be real—trying to get straight answers about egg freezing in the UK is like trying to assemble IKEA furniture. Everyone says something different, prices are buried in sub-menus/add-ons/etc., and nobody wants to admit how much it really costs.

So when I emailed Manchester Fertility and actually got a clear, kind, and no-pressure reply? That was cool.

I didn’t go ahead with them in the end, but I did get a proper info pack and a breakdown of costs (yes, actual numbers!). If you're mid-scroll through your “Freeze My Eggs?” research phase, here's what you need to know.

💸 So, What Does It Cost?

Let’s start with what we’re all actually googling at 1am: how much is this going to set me back?

🧪 Fertility Assessment – £807

Pause for dramatic effect.

Yes, you read that right. £807 just to get through the door and find out if you're even a candidate. WTF…

Okay, so it does include the following:

  • AMH blood test

  • Ultrasound

  • Consultation with a fertility specialist

  • Pre-IVF screening

  • One counselling session

It’s thorough—but also pricey (??) For context, most London clinics charge around £500–£600 for the same tests. And this is Manchester, not Mayfair. So yeah, I found this part a little eyebrow-raising.

That said, they do include counselling (many clinics don’t), and all the essential screenings. Still, it’s a steep starting point if you’re not sure you’ll even go ahead. Also, it’s far cheaper to just do these things singularly, so I am still a bit suspcisious of this price. Now onto the freezing —

❄️ One Egg Freezing Cycle – £3,900–£4,200

This includes:

  • All planning, scans, bloods

  • Egg collection

  • Vitrification (aka freezing the good stuff fast)

  • A year of storage

  • HFEA licence fees

Honestly? Not bad. Compared to other UK clinics that quote low but charge for every tiny thing (storage fees, scan fees, lab gloves…), this is a clean, all-in price. No sneaky “admin” charges later on.

💊 Medication – £600–£2,600 extra

This one’s always variable, depending on how your body responds to the hormones. You’ll get a more accurate idea once you’ve had your bloodwork and consult.

🔁 Multi-Cycle Package – £7,000–£7,600 (plus meds)

If you’re 35+ or just want to bank more eggs across a few cycles, this gives you up to three rounds of freezing and one year of storage. Again—upfront cost, no surprises, and not bad value compared to some London clinics.

🤷‍♀️ So, Is It Worth It?

Here’s where it gets subjective. On the plus side:

  • They’re transparent with pricing.

  • The staff seem kind, non-pushy, and human.

  • No salesy nonsense. No “book now and we’ll throw in a free miracle.”

But then there’s that £807 assessment cost. Which, I’ll be honest, gave me a bit of a “wait, really?” moment. Especially since clinics like Create and CRGH offer basically the same thing for £200 less—in London.

And if you're not local to Manchester, you'll need to factor in travel and logistics. This clinic isn’t ideal if you’re hoping to sneak in appointments on your lunch break in central London.

🎯 How It Compares to Other UK Clinics

Let’s break it down:

Manchester Fertility sits in the middle, price-wise. You’re not getting bargain-basement costs, but you’re also not paying top-tier boutique prices. The difference? What they quote is actually what you pay. Some of the cheaper clinics love a sneaky “optional” fee that becomes… not so optional.

🧠 The Emotional Bits

I was interested to find that they include counselling as standard. Maybe more clinics should be this way. Egg freezing is not just science—it’s an identity, timeline panic of “do I really want kids?” That said, you are paying for the session. I feel that a counselling session should be a given, not a luxury.

📝 TL;DR — Is Manchester Fertility For You?

  • ✅ Great if you want clear, honest pricing

  • ✅ Includes counselling and screening up front

  • ✅ Decent value on full-cycle and multi-cycle plans

  • ❌ That £807 assessment is wild for Manchester

  • ❌ Travel could be tricky if you’re not local

  • ⚖️ Middle of the pack in price, but solid in transparency

Final Thoughts

Would I go with Manchester Fertility? Personally, I didn’t. That £807 made me pause, and I’m based in London, so location played a part too. But if I lived nearby and wanted a clinic that spelled out the cost, didn’t pressure me, and seemed genuinely patient-focused? I’d consider it.

If nothing else, getting their info pack helped me benchmark other clinics. I wasn’t guessing anymore—I had real numbers to compare. And in the wild world of UK fertility pricing, that’s a small miracle in itself.
