ABC IVF Review: Affordable Fertility Treatment in London – But What’s the Catch?

When you’re navigating fertility decisions — egg freezing, IVF, or just understanding your options — there’s one thing that often feels like a gut punch: the cost. So when I came across abc ivf, which claims to be “the UK’s most affordable IVF service,” I was intrigued… and a little skeptical.

After reviewing their materials, pricing, and overall offering, I wanted to give you a full breakdown of what to expect — the pros, the fine print, and the trade-offs — so you can make an informed choice.

What Is abc ivf?

abc ivf is a fertility clinic group offering lower-cost fertility treatments in several UK cities, including multiple locations across London. They’re backed by CREATE Fertility, which has a strong reputation for using natural and mild IVF protocols.

Their entire model is based on affordability and accessibility — something sorely missing from many UK fertility clinics. In that sense, they really are doing something different. But let’s look closer.

What They’re Doing Well

1. Transparent Pricing (Kind Of)

Their egg freezing package is £3,595, which includes:

  • Stimulation meds

  • Monitoring blood tests

  • Specified services during one cycle

Compared to London clinics charging £5,000–£9,000 just for the procedure (not meds), this pricing is genuinely lower — on the surface.

However, their own email notes that "there may be additional costs not included in the cycle package." That’s common, but it means the £3,595 is not a true final price for many people. Additional bloods, medications, and services (e.g., AMH testing, additional scans) can add up.

2. Payment Plans

They offer financing via Duologi — interest-free for 12 months, or 9.9% APR over 24–36 months. You’ll need to put down 20–50% upfront, which is manageable for some, not for others.

Where Things Get Tricky

❓ “Affordable IVF” Can Still Be Pricey

While £3,595 is far less than many private clinics, if you're freezing eggs or doing IVF, you’ll still face:

  • Extra costs (storage, additional meds, donor sperm if needed)

  • Lab fees (like ICSI or blastocyst culture)

  • Transfer costs, if doing embryo freezing

For example:
If you freeze eggs and then return to thaw, fertilize, and transfer later, the second half of your journey is not included in the £3.5k. This is crucial to know if you’re comparing prices to all-inclusive clinics abroad.

No Success Rate Breakdown by Age or Protocol

abc ivf says they have “excellent success rates,” but they don’t include hard data in the info provided. I would’ve liked to see:

  • Age-specific success rates

  • Rates by treatment type (natural IVF vs. conventional)

  • Live birth rates, not just positive tests

These are usually available via HFEA, so I recommend cross-checking on hfea.gov.uk before booking.

Consultations Start Virtually – But Is That Enough?

Your initial steps include:

  • A Baseline Scan in-clinic

  • A Virtual Consultation with a fertility doctor

While that might be convenient, some people may prefer a face-to-face consult, especially when navigating something as sensitive as IVF. There’s also a risk that virtual consults can feel a bit rushed or overly scripted (just from others’ experiences I've heard).

What to Ask Before Booking

Before jumping in, I recommend asking:

  • What’s not included in the package price?

  • What if I need extra meds or a second scan — what are those costs?

  • What are the success rates for women my age using this specific protocol?

  • Do you offer any support after egg freezing or embryo transfer?

  • Are egg thaw, fertilisation, and embryo transfer part of a separate package?

These are the things that aren’t always spelled out in the initial brochure.

My Honest Impression

✔️ The Good:

  • Pricing is lower than most private UK clinics

  • Affiliated with CREATE Fertility = research-backed

  • Easy to book + virtual consultation makes things feel more accessible

  • Transparent about payment plans

The Not-So-Great:

  • The £3,595 is just a starting price — extras can creep up

  • No success rate transparency in their email (always double check)

  • Virtual consultations may not be for everyone

  • It’s unclear how much aftercare or emotional support is included

  • It’s not the same as a full-service clinic (no egg thaw + transfer in the same package)

Who abc ivf Might Work For

abc ivf could be a great option if:

  • You’re on a tight budget

  • You’re just starting your fertility journey and want baseline testing + a plan

  • You’re considering egg freezing and want to do it in the UK

  • You’re okay with a more streamlined and budget-conscious approach

But if you’re someone who:

  • Wants all-inclusive, concierge-style support

  • Has complex fertility history (PCOS, endo, prior failed IVF)

  • Needs donor sperm or partner testing ...you might find a more comprehensive (but more expensive) clinic to be a better fit.

How to Book

You can book your Baseline Scan + Virtual Consultation via the abc ivf website or call them directly on 0330 0580 800.

They also offer weekly webinars with their Medical Director, where you can ask questions and learn more — these happen every Thursday from 6–7pm.

Final Thoughts

abc ivf is helping to bridge the gap between NHS waitlists and high-cost private clinics. For that, they absolutely deserve credit. But “affordable IVF” doesn’t always mean inexpensive, and you’ll need to ask good questions to avoid surprises later on.

If I go ahead with treatment there, I’ll share the full experience — good, bad, or in-between. For now, I hope this review helps you make a more empowered decision on your own journey.
